Pharmacogenomic (PGx) Testing

Pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing is a tool used for developing customized drug therapies for patients. The test itself is a

simple swab of the patient's inside cheeks. This test sample is then sent to our laboratory partner for processing. The test

data provided from PGx texting indicates if and how well a patient's body metabolizes medications in the following categories:

   - Pain

   - Psychiatric

   - ADHD

   - Cardiology

   - GI

   - Urology

   - Rheumatology

   - Pre-Surgical

Whether you are starting a medication or looking to optimize your current medication therapy, PGx test reports can help

you determine the right drug and the correct dose you need. Based on your genotype, your personalized PGx report can

classify more than 165 commonly prescribed drugs as either:

   (1) Prescribe Normal

   (2) Use With Caution

   (3) Consider Alternatives

Many commercial insurance carriers pay for PGx testing. Medicare covers PGx testing for patients on Plavix (Clopidogrel),

Coumadin (Warfarin), Evalin (Amitriptyline), Pamelor (Nortriptline) and Xenazine (Tetrabenazine). For those without coverage

there is a very affordable cash payment option. Our laboratory partner bills the insurance company and collects all of the

reimbursements to cover testing costs. If there are any copayments due, our lab will make payment arrangements directly

with the patient, including addressing the needs of those with financial difficulties.
